Meet The Pastor

Larry Corbett

Are you looking for a church home? If so, I would welcome you to come and visit the community of faith at Mission del Sol. Sunday morning is the best time to visit by attending one of our two worship services, 8 and 10:30 a.m. or our education hour for all ages, 9:15-10:15 a.m.

We really are living in times of incredible confusion and conflict international political and military conflict; deep religious conflict among people and denominations of the same faith; internal Biblical and theological differences within a denomination; and of course, those pesky family disagreements that rarely go away. Clearly, no simple solution is on the horizon, but equally clear is the need to listen carefully. We need to listen to one another, listen for the issues of the conflict which are beneath the surface typically fueled by fear. We need to listen to our own hearts and internal pulse beat. We need to ask "What are my needs here?" And, whose needs are being met? Lastly, we need to listen for a reality larger than ourselves, larger than our denominations, larger than the world in which we live.
I believe that God is the Source and Redeemer of all life-in "which we live and move and have our being," (Acts 17:28) and that God's grace is present for us in surprising ways. But we need to listen to discern the will of God and listen for our inner personal response. As we move into ministry together I encourage you to practice your listening skills. Perhaps in the midst of it we'll recognize and hear our own brokenness and vulnerability, and be open to hearing the presence of the Word of God.

In Christ,

Larry Corbett, Pastor
